In 1991, following talk of in five boys and four girls aged 8-15, all from families of
English incomers were seized by social workers and held for five weeks.

The raids arose from talk of ritualistic satanic abuse by one girl in a therapy session. The children were interrogated for house by social workers, but the story was not corroborated.

The case was subject of an inquiry by Lord Clyde. He criticised the social workers' actions, but accepted they acted in good faith.
